I found it insightful:<br /><br />"Two [three?] principles guide my thinking on this issue:<br /><br />1. We are unlikely to be unlikely. If life exists on our planet and their are billions of similar planets, it is more likely than not that it exists in many other places.<br /><br />2. We are wrong to assume that other life forms will be readily recognizable. It is not necessarily going to look like us or anything we are familiar with. Their could be life in forms we can't currently even imagine. There could be forms of life on our own planet we don't yet recognize as living.<br /><br />3. We are foolish to expect that other life forms would want to be easily found, given the obvious risks involved.
