And that says something about labor-intesive technologies used and simplicity of design. I suppose they build houses in eco-friendly manner to the extent possible given the local resources, without assuming high expenses that Cuba and other low- and mid-level income counties cannot afford. Not...In what other ways are the homes eco friendy? Not transporting materials long distances definitely saves a lot of enegy (your whole supply chain is local), but what about the materials themselves? Insulation and glass can't be produced locally, and the wood has to come from somewhere.
