These are the nurseries of the ocean that protect juvenile fishes until they are ready for the open ocean.<br /><br />If you ever wondered why you never see baby barracuda, its because they grow up in calm shadows of the protected network of roots created by the mangrove swamp. These ecosystems are going fast...ripped up to make shrimp farms and luxury hotels all over the tropics.
