However, I would do so simply for ethical reasons. Bartlett on the other hand refers to financial and experimental downside of using chimps along with ethical reasons--partly perhaps to get more votes. However, the title of his op-ed piece reveals that he does not categorically oppose experiments on animal subjects: "Stop Using Chimps as Guinea Pigs"; as if Guinea Pigs somehow do not suffer in such experiments. They do.

The task lies ahead to do away with the mythological believe in human superiority that suppose to give us the "right" to view animal as property to do with them as we please. Only then our humanity will show as we return being simply a part of the Tree of Life and not its mythical apex.Kamran Nayerihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13737979861971221811noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5261748503426298041.post-71615623821977692552011-08-22T14:28:33.215-07:002011-08-22T14:28:33.215-07:00It's good to see a few Republicans who respect...It's good to see a few Republicans who respect nature for something other than its money-generating capability. Usually they show little empathy for things non-human.

Bartlett has also made wise comments about Peak Oil, that have fallen on deaf Republican ears.
